Sugar-free chocolate has come a long way since the chalky bars of the early 2000s. ChocoRite has the biggest footprint here, with milk, dark, crisp and peanut butter bars plus two-piece candies. Lily's covers stevia-sweetened bars and peanut butter cups, Dakota's Sweeet line does chocolate salted almonds and cups, and Atkins Endulge adds peanut butter cups, caramel squares and pecan clusters.
Asher's, Russell Stover and Hershey's make sugar-free versions of their classics, and Mode's low sugar filled milk chocolate is the one people come back for in Salted Caramel. If you'd rather avoid sweeteners altogether, Lindt Excellence 78% cacao keeps the sugar low through cocoa content instead.
The sweetener is the main variable. Maltitol-based chocolate tastes closest to regular but can bother some stomachs; erythritol, stevia and allulose sit easier. A square after dinner is the use case. Nobody needs a plan for that.
